SPECIAL THANKSGIVING SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

In 2009 we were delighted to receive a scholarship to give towards attending the Appliqué Academy which enabled us to surprise a wonderful appliquér with the opportunity to study at the Academy. What a surprise then, to have that same donor offer her generous scholarship again for Academy 2010 - giving a yet to be chosen someone, an additional blessing to be grateful for in this Thanksgiving season. Bette and I are also deeply touched at the kindness of this gift and the affection it reflects for the Academy. The donor mentioned in offering the gift that she hoped this scholarship would enable someone to study and share the joy the donor herself has felt thru appliqué. Bette and I are heartened by the affectionate support thus given to us and to the whole Academy family by these gifts.

2010 Academy Thanksgiving Scholarship Opportunity


Our generous sponsor is offering a "surprise gift" scholarship for an avid appliquér who would love to attend the Appliqué Academy. The awarded scholarship will be privately handled, and will be for the cost of double occupancy attendance to be paid directly to the Academy by our sponsor. No funds will be paid to the scholarship student, and the student would be responsible for their own transportation, kit fees or lab fees, and other miscellaneous incurred expenses. The scholarship recipient will be able to select a class of their first choice for the conference, and the winner will be introduced as the Surprise Gift Scholarship Recipient at one of the Appliqué Academy's socials. We invite you to be someone's "Secret Santa." Perhaps, you or your guild knows of someone you would like to secretly nominate?

We have come up with some simple, basic criteria to nominate a deserving student. The following should be submitted: A. Referring to the donor's mission statement as guidance, submit a letter of nomination with general information as to why the student would be deserving of the scholarship, and include details about their appliqué experience and interest in appliqué. The letter should include the name, address, telephone and email of the nominee. B. Nominations must be made without the knowledge of the nominee. A review will be made of those nominates submitted, and a selection will be made based on need and enthusiasm for appliqué. Should the nominee be unable to use the scholarship for the coming year a new nominee will be selected from the remaining nominees. C. Letters of nomination should be sent to: Bette Augustine 41195 Toledo Drive Hemet, CA 92544 D. The nomination letter must be received by December 15, 2009. E. The nominee must be a citizen of the United States.
